Titanium carbonitride

SMT   PVT LTD’s TINUM-Cn is a special application pharma grade coating designed to provide hard, anti-sticking and wear resistant properties with low friction co-efficient deposited at low temperatures to suit pharmaceutical metallurgical challenges in tablet compression. It is titanium carbo-nitride graded multilayer coating deposited by the State-of-the-art physical vapour deposition (PVD) process.

SMTPL’s TINUM-Cn is hard coating providing solutions to lots of applications like moderate speed cutting, stamping, punching etc where moderate temperatures are generated. TINUM-Cn provides superior hardness and lower co-efficient of friction than titanium nitride (TiN). It is not, however, a replacement for all TiN applications. TINUM-Cn coating structure enhances the toughness of the coating which improves the shock absorption capacity of the coating. The graded multilayer structure of TINUM-Cn coating restricts the crack propagation towards the surface during compression even at high load. Therefore, TINUM-Cn coating reduces the formulation picking resulting in less sticking. TINUM-Cn is recommended for hard abrasive formulations compression at high loads. The coating thickness is kept around 2 microns and can be modified as per application.
